Lord, Here I Bow to Elevate Your Righteousness Over My Nervousness: Setting the tone for the week...

This past weekend we were able to get away to spend time with my sweet Buddy Benjamin. I adore our time because he and I share the love of long windy roads and beautiful scenery. Everything we saw made my heart lift in worship to the God outside of space and time that shows how completely trustworthy and altogether lovely He is...



It's funny...Even though I had such a sweet family time and had deep, peaceful worship, as I come back to reality and prepare to start a new week I feel that nervousness creeping up almost to the point of choking out the beauty of what I experienced.


I think this is a regular, start of the week trick that Satan uses. I don't think he has to work that hard at it though, because we are so quickly thrown. With little messages of scatter and tiny hints of discontent he twists the minds of believers to forget the life of confident righteousness that was granted to us by God. Satan has elevated stress, anxiety, and turmoil as though the finished work of Jesus Christ has no power over it all.


“FINALLY, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians‬ ‭4:8‬

Let's examine the words in the passage Philippians 4:8. Those words are not actions that you are to perform, THEY ARE JESUS. The point of the entire passage of Philippians 4:4-8 is for the reader to take their eyes off of themselves and their works, and to ELEVATE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST. Then faith is increased, and the scripture says that our righteousness is GRANTED through faith, and with said faith and righteousness they overcome (Romans 1-8, Hebrews 11, 2 Peter 1).


So, let's add all of this up...Satan has told us that the physical weight of this world is chronic and uncontrollable when God has told us that it doesn’t have to be. In fact, God has said it should not be!!


"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Phil 4:4-7

Right here in this space...right here at the start of a fresh, new week...God has given us the power to recognize the lie that we will forever be bound by our fallen condition and let -- elevate in importance -- what is more true than ANY OTHER THING...


"Christ died and I died with Him.

Christ rose and I am risen.

Christ reigns and my life

is settled into place"



 
NUTRITION NUGGET...

Your meals don't have to be extravagant to be life changing.

Simple meals are not only easier to do, they simplify things for your digestive system which ultimately makes things easier on the physical side of your nervous system.

There are lots of fun foods to enjoy in the summer but go ahead and make up your mind that those are occasional and not a regular part of your life.


Simply put....

YOUR LIFE IS TOO VALUABLE TO THROW AWAY ONE RECKLESS MEAL AT A TIME!


So love on your beautiful self this week by trying one of my new super simple favorites.


SUNBUTTER ZUCHINI

1 medium zucchini sliced

1/2 cup of lean ground meat (or ground tofu)

1 tbs sunbutter

1 tbs low sodium soy sauce

1 tbs apple cider vinegar

1/2 tbs maple syrup

1/2 tbs sesame oil


  1. Slice zucchini and put in air fryer on 400 for 6-7 mins

  2. Saute lean ground meat (or tofu)

  3. Mix sunbutter, soy sauce, ACV, maple syrup, and sesame oil till smooth

  4. Put everything together.

  5. Go sit outside and think about your good and faithful God.

  6. Worship with the birds (Ps 148, John 1:3, Rom 8).
