A long time ago, the Lord put a prayer on my heart that always starts with “For the one...”
Sometimes, It’s for the one who is about to have an abortion or for the one who is about to take that last pill. Other times, it’s for the one who feels as though there is no way out and wants to commit suicide or for the one who has decided that your filthy life is just not redeemable, so you should stop even trying.
Sometimes, it’s for the one who goes to church, who reads her Bible, who volunteers, and follows all “the rules” but still feels as though she is a dirty, unworthy failure.
For every single one...
The God of all the universe sent His son, Jesus Christ, to die for you, and if you’ve received Him, YOU HAVE BEEN MADE CLEAN. You don’t have to walk the path that the father of all lies -- the accuser -- set to trap your mind and your heart. You have believed the accusations spit out of that snake's mouth, but you don't have to live there!
Remember, God is patient and kind, and there is a process of sanctification -- forever life change -- for every believer that does not happen in a moment. It takes time; however, when you have been set apart by the blood of Jesus Christ -- CONSECRATED -- you can go ahead NOW and spread your arms and sing...
“My dirty rags are purified...
I’M CLEAN.
I AM CLEAN.
I’M CLEAN.
YOU MAKE ME,
YOU WASH ME...
CLEAN”
As you sing those words, feel the peace that could only come from God. Now, make the decision that you will take part in His desire to restore your heart by being both physically and emotionally present with Him today.
If you are one who has already surrendered to the Lord, publicly and privately, take the time this morning to think over all the struggles that the Lord has rescued you from. Begin to pray "For the one" whom you do not even know that may be held in those same chains.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” Romans 12:1-2
“Come, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are crimson red, they will be like wool." Isaiah 1:18
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
HEALTHY NUGGET
It is SO cold, y'all!! Cold weather makes us want to get in our comfy clothes and hibernate with "comfy" foods. The fact is, though, our waistlines and our livers suffer from it! I am not saying we've got to come out of our PJs, but I am definitely saying we've got to aim a little higher with our food. Try this fantastic little recipe on for size!
One-Dish Ground Turkey Sweet Potato Skillet
1 pound ground turkey
1 medium onion, chopped
1 shallot, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup tomato paste
1 medium sweet potato, peeled and cubed
1 cup chicken bone broth
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3 cups chopped fresh kale
Dash crushed red pepper flakes
1 medium ripe avocado, peeled and sliced
Minced fresh mint, optional
Directions
In a large skillet, cook turkey, onion, shallot, and garlic over medium heat until turkey is no longer pink and vegetables are tender. After 8-10 minutes, break up the turkey into crumbles; drain. Add tomato paste; cook and stir 1 minute longer.
Add sweet potato, broth, smoked paprika, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, until sweet potato is tender, about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add kale and red pepper flakes; cook and stir until kale is wilted, about 2 minutes. Serve with avocado and, if desired, mint.
